Referral Services

  • A Gender Specific Cognitive Behavioral Trauma Group: Clients in this class learn ways that allow themselves to process and record the therapeutic experience. This class is held virtually with the assistance of Horizon’s Behavioral Health.
  • Individual Counseling: One-on-one mental health treatment provided by a licensed professional counselor and personalized to meet individual needs.
  • MAT: Medication Assisted Treatment (Vivitrol)
  • Psychiatric Consultation:  Clients are referred to Horizon’s Behavior Health or their preferred provider to receive a psychiatric consultation to assess their need for medication management.
  • Medication Management: If medication is deemed medically necessary to treat a diagnosis and alleviate symptoms, medication management services with the treatment provider is essential to monitor effectiveness of medication.
  • Education Assistance: Adult learners can study outside the traditional classroom in this state-approved distance education curricula. Clients become re-engaged in learning after potentially negative past experiences with education and are provided with the tools to set positive educational goals for the future. Various certifications are available.
  • Employment Assistance: Clients are assisted with resume building and application completion. We also work with Jobs and Hope to further assist with locating employment and training opportunities.
  • DUI Safety and Treatment Program through JDRC: A program designed to assist those charged with Driving Under the Influence with regaining their driving privileges. This program is offered in-person as well as virtually. The State Indigent Program is offered for those who meet the income guidelines.
  • GED: Our Peer Recovery Coach will facilitate this referral and support participants throughout the process. Participants will work on Math, Reading, Science, and other skills to successfully complete the courses outlined by the State of West Virginia to obtain their GED.


Therapy Services

  • Individual Counseling: One-on-one mental health treatment provided by a licensed professional counselor and personalized to meet individual needs. We offer individual therapeutic services in multiple areas including but not limited to the following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a focus in faith-based principles, Crisis Intervention, Relationship Enhancement Therapy, Action Commitment Therapy, Substance Abuse, EMDR and Polyvagal.


EMDR

  • EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution.



Group Services

  • Anger Management: Helps clients understand that anger is a universal emotion while developing skills to manage it in constructive ways. Exercises in the workbook focus on recognizing personal experiences of anger; identifying events that are within our control; grounding, visualization, and mindfulness; and building assertive communication skills.
  • BIPPS: BIPPS courses are designed to teach offenders to resolve conflicts non-violently by taking responsibility for their actions and learning community skills
  • Healthy Relationships: Helps offenders realize their crimes cause unwanted stress and worry on others in their lives. Helps them come up with solutions to their relationship issues.
  • Life Skills: Helps people change their actions in order to achieve personal development, self-awareness and success in life.
  • Life Skills Level 2: Focuses on a more advanced level to make students aware of the decisions they are making and the results of those decisions on their lives.
  • New Direction: An evidence-based curriculum that treats addiction and is designed for those who have been involved with the justice system and includes the following courses: 
    • Introduction to Treatment
    • Criminal and Addictive Thinking
    • Alcohol and Other Drug Education
    • Socialization
    • Co-occurring Disorders
    • Relapse Prevention
    • Preparing for Release
  • Money Management: For those individuals facing financial hardship. It is designed to assist people in their quest to be free from outside influences by working on cognitive skills, rather than being controlled by them. Participants will create a personal budget to visually show where they are spending money and come up with better ways to save money. 
  • Non-Compliance: Clients who have not complied with other groups/therapy requirements will be placed into a non-compliance group to learn the skills to participate appropriately when in group settings as well as gain motivation to complete their courses.
  • Nurturing Parent Group: A family-centered trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices. The Nurturing Program encourages an approach to relationships that gives children and parents an emotionally healthy springboard for their lives and their learning.
  • NADA: NADA or National Acupuncture Detoxification Association is an acupuncture-based therapy that helps to treat withdrawal and substance abuse


Peer Recovery Services

  • Peer Recovery Service: Peer support provides an opportunity for individuals who have achieved significant recovery themselves to assist others in their recovery journeys. Peer support models recovery, teaches skills, and offers support to help people experiencing mental health, substance abuse and or life challenges to lead meaningful lives in the community. Peer Support brings together people with shared experiences to support each other. provide a space where you feel accepted and understood and treat everyone's experiences as being equally important.
  • SMART Recovery: Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) is a global community of mutual-support groups. At meetings, participants help one another resolve problems with any addiction (to drugs or alcohol or to activities such as gambling or over-eating). Participants find and develop the power within themselves to change and lead fulfilling and balanced lives guided by our science-based and sensible 4-Point Program.
  • Support Services: Transportation for admittance to inpatient rehabilitation. 
  • Addictive Behavior Awareness (ABA): Supportive group that discusses topics involving and relating to common self-destructive behaviors and personal issues that individuals in recovery face, while providing a source of support and community.
  • Celebrate Recovery: 12-step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain, or addiction of any kind.

    • Life's Healing Choices offered upon request

Sex Offender Treatment

  • Risk/Need Assessment for Sexual Offenders: Assesses individual treatment needs. This is for treatment recommendations only.
  • Relapse Prevention for Sexual Offenders: A self-control program designed to teach individuals who are trying to change their behavior how to anticipate and cope with relapse, focusing on enabling the individual to prevent relapse thus maintaining the newly adopted behavior pattern.
